Who this covers
Lectern is for teachers. This page describes the account you open, the course material you upload, and work students send back through a link you share.
Data we collect
- Teacher account details: your name, email address, and a password stored only as a hash.
- Sources you upload for a course, such as readings, documents, and images.
- Student submissions that come in through a share link or an assessment link, including answers and files tied to that link.
- Payment references for a subscription: the plan, the amount, and the status. We do not store your full card number.
Who processes it
- AI providers used for generation and OCR, to draft materials and read text from files you upload.
- Bachs and Paystack, to take payment for a subscription.
- PostHog, for product analytics after you accept analytics cookies.
- Google Analytics, on the public marketing pages.
- Cloudflare, to deliver the site and protect it. Cloudflare sees connection data such as IP address as part of that delivery.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep you signed in. Analytics cookies stay off until you accept them. You can change that choice from Cookie settings in the site footer.
How long we keep it, and deletion
We keep account data, sources, and student submissions while your account is open and you are using them. You can delete the login from account settings. Email us if you want sources, student submissions, or other teaching material deleted as well. We may keep payment records where we have to for billing, security, or the law.
